¡Listos para correr!

Deseo que todos tuvieron un relajante fin de semana. Quiero actualizarte que vamos a tener dos padres de aula Vanessa James y Vanessa Chial. Gracias a Vanessa y Vanessa por ofrecerse a ser nuestros padres de aula. Quiero darle la bienvenida a Lorenzo y su familia, quien vienen de la clase de la maestra Ortiz. También quiero decirle adiós y buena suerte a Olive quien se traslada a la clase de la maestra Ortiz.   El miércoles a las 8:40 visitamos la biblioteca por favor de devolver los libros de la biblioteca. El jueves durante el recreo del almuerzo es el Club de Correr. Se recomienda que los niños tengan zapatos adecuado para correr. Además, el jueves en la tarde nos visitan nuestros amigos de lectura de cuarto grado.

I hope everyone had a relaxing weekend. I want to update you that we will have two classroom parents Vanessa James and Vanessa Chial, thank you Vanessa and Vanessa for offering to be our classroom parents. I want to welcome Lorenzo and his family, who comes to us from Master Ortiz's class. Also I want to say goodbye and good luck to Olive who moves to Master Ortiz’s class. On Wednesday at 8:40 we visit the library, please return library books. On Thursday at lunch recess is the first meeting of the Running Club. It is recommended that children have proper running shoes. Also, on Thursday afternoon our fourth grade reading buddies will visit us.

Era un placer ver tantos padres durante la noche de regreso a la escuela. Gracias a Vanessa James por ofrecerse a ser nuestro padre de aula. La semana pasada pensé que las clases de música comenzarían. Me equivoqué comienzan este lunes. El martes y viernes a las 8:40 A.M. los niños tendrán clase de educación física. El miércoles a las 8:40 visitamos la biblioteca por la primera vez este año. El jueves a las 10:35 los niños van a trabajar en el jardín. Nuestras visitas a la biblioteca serán cada semana, mientras vamos a ir al jardín cada otra semana. Si gustan ayudar en la biblioteca durante nuestras visitas por favor de ponerse en contacto con la bibliotecaria Porrata, aporrata@oldadobe.org. Si gustan ayudar en el jardín con los niños por favor de ponerse en contacto con la maestra de jardín Mary Carter, mcarter@oldadobe.org. El jueves en la tarde visitamos nuestros amigos de lectura de cuarto grado, la clase del maestro Rivera. Esta semana los estudiantes compartirán un artículo para muestra y explicar. El martes tendremos una breve prueba de matemáticas. La fecha para el paseo al Museo Infantil será el 30 de Octubre. 

It was a pleasure to see so many parents during  back to school night. Thanks to Vanessa James for volunteering to be our room parent. Last week I thought music classes would start, I was mistaken they start this Monday. On Tuesday and Friday at 8:40 A.M. the children will have physical education class. Wednesday at 8:40 we visit the library for the first time this year. On Thursday at 10:35 the children are going to work in the garden. Our visits to the library will be weekly while we will be going to go to the garden every other week. If you would like to help in the library during our visits please of get in touch with librarian Porrata, aporrata@oldadobe.org. If you would like to help the children in the garden please get in touch with the garden teacher Mary Carter, mcarter@oldadobe.org.  On Thursday afternoon we visit our fourth grade reading buddies, Mr. Rivera's class. This week the students will share an article fro show and tell. We'll have a brief math test on Tuesday. The date for the visit to the Children’s Museum is October 30, 2018.

Regreso a la escuela

Gracias por las generosas donaciones de útiles escolares. También gracias con la ayuda para las carpetas del viernes y tarea. Tenemos voluntarios para cada día menos el miércoles. Si gustas ayudar el miércoles en la mañana hágame saber. El martes a las 6:00 P.M. es la noche de regreso a la escuela. Habrá dos sesiones martes en la noche, la primera será a las 6:00 P.M. y la segunda a las 6:40 P.M. Durante la noche de regreso a la escuela y toda la semana en la biblioteca pueden visitar la feria de libros. El lunes los maestros de primer grado van a comenzar a mandar tarea de matemáticas a la casa. La tarea es repaso, los niños deben completar la tarea independientemente. Si los niños están tenido dificultad con la tarea por favor de mandarme una nota. Esta semana vamos llenando el horario con clases de música los lunes en la mañana y yoga en la tarde. El martes y viernes los niños tendrán clase de educación física.

Thank you for the generous donations of school supplies. Also thank you for the help with the Friday and homework folders. We have volunteers for every day except Wednesday. If you'd like to help Wednesday morning let me know. Tuesday at 6:00 P.M. is back-to-school night. There will be two sessions on Tuesday night; the first one will be at 6:00 p.m. and the second at 6:40 p.m. During back to school night and all week in the library you can visit the book fair. On Monday first grade teachers will start sending math homework.  Homework is review,  thus  the children should be able to complete the homework independently. If the children are having difficulty with the homework, please send me a note. This week we are filling out the schedule with music classes on Monday mornings and yoga in the afternoon. On Tuesday and Friday the children will have physical education class.

Welcome/Bienvenidos 2018-2019

Hola, permítame a presentarme, voy a ser el maestro de su hijo. Soy hablante nativo de español originario de Yucatán, México. Yo crecí en los Estados Unidos en el sur de California cerca de Whittier, CA. Asistí a la Universidad de California en Irvine, donde obtuve una licenciatura en psicología. Después de la Universidad, trabajé para el Servicio de Parques Nacionales. Trabajé en varios parques en California y en Maine. Después de 26 años me retiré del Servicio de Parques y obtuve mi credencial de enseñanza de Sonoma State University. Actualmente resido en Pt. Reyes Station donde con mi esposa, quien también trabajo para el Servicio de Parques Nacionales. Tengo un hijo que vive en Brooklyn, Nueva York. En mi tiempo libre me gusta leer, ver los partidos de los Gigantes de San Francisco, caminar los senderos de Pt. Reyes National Seashore. Además me gusta viajar por América Latina, este verano viaje a Cuba y México.

Un cambio principal del kinder es que el recreo/merienda es a las 10:00 A.M., el recreo es sólo 15 minutos. También el almuerzo es más tarde 12:15 P.M., es importante que los niños traigan un bocado para el recreo. Además es importante que los niños desayunen bien. Por favor recuerde a su hijo que coma su bocado antes de jugar durante el recreo. Espero ver a cada uno el miércoles por la mañana, los estudiantes salen de la cafetería y las puertas escolares abren a las 8:25 P.M. Despedimos los alumnos a las 1:4:5 P.M. cada miércoles. La despedida los otros días es a las 2:45 P.M.  El área de recoger los niños se encuentra en frente de la escuela. Si usted desea que su hijo camine a la área de kínder con para recoger con sus hermanos menores, por favor háganmelo saber. Haré que los estudiantes caminan en grupo a kinder. Me gustaría saber si su niño está asistiendo a Kid's Care o Boy’s and Girl's Club.

 La lista de útiles escolares pide un tablero blanco de doble lados, para mi clase, un tablero blanco plano de un lado es suficiente. Quisiera advertir la compra de una pizarra con un marco metálico. Estos marcos se pueden caer y el metal tiene bordes afilados.

Hello, allow me to introduce myself, I will be your child's teacher. I am a native Spanish speaker originally from Yucatán, México. I grew up in the United States in Southern California near Whittier, CA I attended the University of California at Irvine, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After college I worked for the National Park Service working in several parks in California and in Maine. After 26 years I retired from the Park Service and obtained my teaching credential from Sonoma State University. I currently reside in Pt. Reyes Station with my wife, who also worked for the National Park Service. I have a son who lives in Brooklyn, New York. In my spare time I enjoy reading, watching the San Francisco Giants and walking in Pt. Reyes National Seashore. In addition I enjoy traveling in Latin America, This summer I traveled to Cuba and México.

One major change from kindergarten is that recess/snack is at 10:00 A.M. recess is also only 15 minutes. . Also since lunch is later 12:15., it is important that the children have a good breakfast. it also important that the children bring a snack for recess. Please remind your child to eat his snack prior to playing during recess.  I look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday morning, students are released from the cafeteria and school gates open at 8:25 A.M. The students are dismissed at 1:45 P.M. on Wednesday. On the other days students are dismissed at 2:45 P.M. The pick up area is in front of the school. If you wish to have your child walk over to the kindergarten area to be picked up with younger siblings please let me know. I will have the students walk over as a group to the kindergarten area. I would appreciate knowing if your child is attending Kid’s Care or Boy’s and Girl’s Club.

The school supply list asks for a double-sided white board for my class, a plain white board is sufficient. I would caution buying a white board with a metal frame. These frames can come off and the metal has sharp edges.
