Humo y Luna

Espero que cada uno estuvieron fuera del humo y tuvieron un fin de semana feriado relajante. Escribo esta nota a 250 millas al norte de Petaluma, lejos del humo. Considerando la incertidumbre sobre la calidad del aire los detalles en esta nota son sujetos de cambiar. Como es una semana corta los maestros de primer grado decidieron no empezar un nuevo tema de lectura y escritura. El martes vamos a revisar las palabras de ortografía de la semana pasada y tener la prueba el miércoles. No tengo tiempo suficiente para registrar los libros de Súper Lector  y distribuirlos, así que enviaré a casa un libro imprimido de nivel para los niños. Junto con la tarea de matemáticas los niños tendrán tarea de ciencia, martes a jueves. La tarea consiste en hacer una observación y dibujar la luna. Por favor haga que su hijo regrese la tarea de Ciencias el viernes para discutir en la clase de Ciencias. En la carpeta del viernes otra página de observación de la luna se irá a casa para la siguiente semana de Acción de Gracias. Una explicación detallada y un ejemplo de la tarea se incluirán en la carpeta de tareas. Las conferencias comienzan otra vez el martes 13 de noviembre. Los martes, jueves y viernes la despedida será a las 1:30. La despedida el miércoles será a las 1:45. Entiendo y aprecio que los padres han reorganizado sus horarios para las conferencias. Por lo tanto, en el caso de que la escuela sea cancelada el día de su conferencia programada, todavía estoy dispuesta reunirme  con usted.

I hope everyone stayed out of the smoke and had a relaxing holiday weekend. I’m writing this note 250 miles north of Petaluma, out of the smoke. Given the uncertainty surrounding the air quality the details in this note are subject to change. As it is a short week the first grade teachers decided not to start a new language arts theme.  On Tuesday we will review the spelling words from last week and have the test on Wednesday. I do not have sufficient time to check-in Súper Lector books and redistribute them, thus I will send home a printed leveled reader for the children. Along with math homework the children will have science homework, Tuesday thru Thursday. The homework involves making an observation and drawing of the moon. Please have your child return the science homework on Friday to discuss in science class. In the Friday folder another moon observation page will go home for the following week of Thanksgiving break. A detailed explanation and example of the homework will be included in the homework folder. The conferences continue starting Tuesday November 13. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday school is out at 1:30. On Wednesday school is out at 1:45.  I understand and appreciate that parents have rearranged their schedules for conferences. Therefore, in the event that school is canceled on the day of your scheduled conference, I’m still willing to meet.
