Originalmente había pensado tener un examen de matemáticas mañana pero

los estudiantes necesitaron más tiempo para entender maneras de formar números con decenas y unidades. Como este entendimiento es la base de reagrupación para sumar y restar tomas tres días para que los niños tengan un mejor entendimiento. Ojala tomando los días adicionales estén mejor preparado para lo que los espera en el segundo grado. Nuestro examen será el próximo martes.   

Originally we were going to have a math test tomorrow, but the students needed more time to understand forming numbers with 10's and 1's. Since this understanding is the basis for regrouping in subtraction and addition we took 3 days to give the students a better understanding. Hopefully taking the additional days will better prepare the students for what awaits them in second grade. Our test will be next Tuesday.

Los mascarados de Loma Vista

¡Sopa de fideos con mini libros!

Par la Noche Familiar de Alfabetización este viernes el Maestro Smith estará haciendo mini libros con los estudiantes. Maestro Smith tendrá ejemplos de mini libros completados escritos por la clase de la Maestra Fernández durante la ciencia en inglés. Junto con otras divertidas actividades estará disponible un delicioso fideo (sopa) de letras.  

For Friday’s Family Fun Literacy Night Mr. Smith will be making mini-books with the students.  Mr. Smith will have examples of completed mini-books written by Ms. Fernández’s class during English science.  Along with other fun activities some delicious alphabet soup will be available.

Nota para la última semana de enero

Esta semana en el salón 15 nuestro tema para lectura es cómo las familias trabajan como equipo. Las palabras de ortografía y vocabulario se centran en la mezcla de /bl/ y /br/ con las vocales. También vamos a repasar y practicar la escritura de la letra b y d. En la corrección de la prueba de ortografía noté estudiantes aún están confundiendo las dos letras. Para las matemáticas nos termina agrupar números por decenas y  tener una prueba el viernes. Para el arte estaremos haciendo máscaras el lunes y farolillos viernes en honor del año nuevo Lunar. Seguimos practicando saltar cuerda y aprenden canciones para cantar mientras saltaremos la cuerda. El viernes por la noche es el evento Sopa de Letras de 6 a 8. Espero verlos a todos ahí, voy a estar trabajando con los estudiantes que escriban cartas de correspondencia a una escuela de Inmersión Dual en México. Aquí está el enlace a la página de quizlet, http://quizlet.com/_ktepo.   

This week in room 15 our theme for language arts is how families work together. The spelling words and vocabulary words focus on the blending of /bl/ and /br/ with vowels. We will also review and practice printing the letter b and d. In correcting the spelling test I noticed students are still confusing the two letters.  For mathematics we will finish grouping numbers by ones and tens and have a test on Friday.  For art we will be making masks on Monday and on Friday Chinese lanterns in honor of the Lunar New Year.  We continue to skip rope and are learning songs to sing while skipping rope.  Friday night is alphabet soup from 6 to 8. Los superhéroes de salón 15

Hoy nuestro inicio de escritura fue “si eras un superhéroe ¿que sería tu nombre, que sería tu poder y a quien ayudarías? El mundo sería un mejor lugar, más considerado y cariñoso con los superhéroes de salón 15. Como ejemplos les presento Súper Gatito y Súper Foca.

Today’s writing prompt was “If you were a superhero what would your name be, what would your super power be and who would you help?” The world would be a better place, more thoughtful and caring, with the superheroes from Room 15. As an example I present to you Super Kitten and Super Seal.

Nota de la semana/Weekly Note

Esta semana en la sala 15 nuestro tema para lectura es trabajo en equipo. Las palabras de ortografía y vocabulario enfocar en las vocales antes de la letra n o r, por ejemplo uno, anda, arco y arpa. Para las matemáticas terminaremos contando salteado hasta a 120. El martes tendremos una prueba en contando salteado y comenzar nuestra nueva unidad de decenas y de unidades. El miércoles en la asamblea se iniciará "Saltar la cuerda para el corazón", puesto que ya no tenemos una clase de educación física estoy deseando saltar la cuerda y correr con los estudiantes por lo menos dos veces por semana por la tarde. La mañana del jueves estoy programado para trabajar con la señora Miller en el desarrollo de un plan de acción de emergencia para la escuela, espero tener un suplente. For mathematics we will finish skip counting to 120. On Tuesday we will have a test on skip counting and start our new unit on 10’s and 1’s. On Wednesday at the assembly we will start “Jump Rope For Heart”, since we no longer have a P.E class I’m hoping to jump rope and run laps with the students at least twice a week in the afternoon. Thursday morning I’m scheduled to work with Mrs. Miller in developing an emergency action plan for the school, I’m hoping to have a substitute for the morning.
