Felicitaciones a los estudiantes por hacer un trabajo maravilloso en su examen de matemáticas. El resultado de la prueba de su hijo fue en la carpeta del viernes. Por favor recuerde devolver los libros de Súper Lector el viernes, para aquellos que olvidaron, por favor devolverlos tan pronto como sea posible. Tengo copias limitadas de los libros y las comparto con las otras clases de primer grado. No daré otro libro a un estudiante hasta que el libro de la semana anterior sea devuelto. Para las artes del lenguaje el tema de esta semana es cómo nos movemos. La lista de ortografía consiste en palabras con/D/ o /T/ seguido por una vocal. Para las matemáticas vamos a utilizar fichas de dominó para estudiar sumar. El miércoles es nuestra visita a la biblioteca y el jueves a las 1:30, los estudiantes trabajarán en el jardín. Por favor recuerda que los estudiantes deben devolver sus libros de la biblioteca el miércoles para que puedan sacar otro libro. Congratulations to the students for doing a wonderful job on their mathematics test. The result of your child’s test was in the Friday folder. Please remember to return the Súper Lector books on Friday, for those who forgot please return them as soon as possible. I have limited copies of the books and I share them with the other first grade classes. I will not issue a student another book until the one from the previous week is returned. For language arts this week’s theme is how we move. The spelling list consist of words with /D/ or /T/ followed by a vowel. For math we will use dominos to study addition. Wednesday is our library visit and Thursday at 1:30 the students will work in the garden. Rutinas Nuevas/New Routines

Esta semana empezamos tres nuevas rutinas. Primero comenzaremos a tener una prueba semanal de ortografía todos los viernes. A los estudiantes se les dará una lista de ortografía el lunes y tendrán una prueba al final de la semana. Esta semana el enfoque de la lista de ortografía será en palabras con /M/ o /P/. Lunes los estudiantes se llevarán a casa Superlector, un libro semanal que devolverán el viernes. Me gustaría que los estudiantes leyeran el libro cada noche para desarrollar fluidez. Los estudiantes completarán una hoja de tareas en respuesta al libro. La tarea de Superlector se entrega el viernes. Los libros son compartidos y circulan entre los estudiantes. Tengo copias limitadas de los libros y los comparto con las otras clases de primer grado, por lo que es importante devolver los libros el viernes para que pueda reasignarlos. La tercera nueva rutina son los centros de artes lingüísticas. Los estudiantes trabajarán en grupos pequeños, mientras que yo tengo un grupo de estudiantes para leer conmigo. Los centros están diseñados para que los estudiantes puedan trabajar independientemente, sin embargo, sería bueno tener un padre voluntario para ayudar a los estudiantes. Tendremos centros lunes, martes y jueves de 9:45 a 10:30. Póngase en contacto conmigo si está interesado en ayudar durante los centros. Para las matemáticas seguiremos midiendo y estudiar restar. This week we start three new routines. First we will start to have a weekly spelling test every Friday.  The students will be given a spelling list on Monday and have a test at the end of the week. This week the focus of the spelling list is on words with /M/ or /P/. Monday the students will take home Superlector, a weekly book that they will return on Friday. I would like the students to read the book each night to develop fluency. The students will complete a homework sheet in response to the book. The Superlector homework is due on Friday. The books are shared and circulate amongst the students. I have limited copies of the books and I share them with the other first grade classes, thus it is important to return the books on Friday so I may reassign them.  The third new routine is language arts centers. The students will work in small groups, while I have a group of students to read with me. The centers are designed so that students can work independently, yet it would be nice to have a parent volunteer to help students. We will have centers Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:30. Please contact me if you are interested in helping during centers. For math we will continue to measure and study subtraction. The students have a math test on Thursday. In Monday’s homework folder you will find the results of the math quiz the students took at the end of August. Primera vez

Espero que todos se hayan podido mantenerse refrescados durante el largo fin de semana. Gracias a todos los voluntarios de las carpetas de tarea/viernes. El martes los maestros de kindergarten hasta segundo grado tendrán sustitutos. Los maestros asistirán a un entrenamiento del distrito. Mencioné a los estudiantes a principios de la semana que no estaría en la escuela el martes, pero olvidé recordarles el viernes. Para lectura y escritura en español estamos trabajando en el uso de adjetivos, añadiendo detalles a oraciones. Para las matemáticas vamos a seguir estudiando haciendo grupos de 10. También mediremos objetos y para el viernes empezaremos a centrarnos en restar. En la ciencia seguiremos estudiando el aire. El miércoles es la primera vez este año en que los estudiantes podrán sacar libros de la biblioteca escolar. También el miércoles visitamos a nuestros amigos de lectura de 5 º grado de la clase de la maestra Galdamez. Jueves a las 1:30 es nuestra primera vez en el jardín. El viernes durante el recreo del almuerzo es el comienzo de Running Club.

Hope everyone had a cool three-day weekend. Thank you to all the homework/Friday folder volunteers.  On Tuesday in order to attend district training kindergarten through 2 grade teachers will have substitutes. I mentioned to the students earlier in the week that I would not be at school on Tuesday, but I forgot to remind them on Friday.  For Spanish language arts, we are working on using adjectives, adding details to sentences. For math we will continue studying making groups of 10. We will also measure and by Friday start to focus on subtraction. In science we will continue to study air. Wednesday is the first time this year students will be able to check out books from the school library. Also on Wednesday we visit our 5^th grade-reading buddies in Ms. Galdamez’s class. Thursday at 1:30 is our first time in the garden. Friday during lunch recess is the start of Running Club.
