tenemos el examen de matemáticas del distrito, por favor aseguren que los niños
lleguen a tiempo. El próximo lunes no hay escuela por el día del Doctor King.
Para estudios sociales vamos a estudiar Doctor King y el movimiento de derechos
civiles en los EEUU. Nos vamos a juntar con la clase de Maestra Fernández para
ver la película Sema, Lord Selma. La película es una película de televisión
hecho por la compañía Disney. Vamos a ver la película en 3 segmentos de media
hora para tener oportunidad de platicar y responder a las preguntas de los
niños. Vamos a ver la película para que los niños tengan un sentido de la lucha
de derechos civiles.La historia está presentada
de la punta de vista de una niña y demuestra que el movimiento tuvo apoyo de varios
grupos raciales. Además el objetivo es que los alumnos hagan conexiones con la
Caja de Herramientas. La película tiene una clasificación de audiencia de TV-
PG por la representación de violencia. Hace un año mostramos la película y fue

For the first time on Tuesday we will have
choral practice. In math we will study forming 10 and 20. On Thursday at 9 we
will take the district math test. Next
Monday is the Dr. King holiday, school will not be in session. For social
studies we will study Dr. King and the civil rights movement. We are going to
get together with Ms. Fernandez’s class to view the Disney made for television
movie Selma, Lord Selma. The story is told from a child's perspective and also portrays the movement as primary African American with multiracial support. We will see the
film in three half hour segments to allow for discussion and responded to the
children’s questions. The objective of watching the movie is to give the
students a sense of the difficulty of the civil rights struggle. In addition we
want the students to make connections to the Tool Box curriculum. The movie has
a rating of TV-PG for its’ depiction of violence. The movie was well received by students last
year, if you have an objection to your child seeing this movie please let me know
so I can find an alternative activity. Here

New Year! To start off 2015 in math we will be reviewing to prepare for next
week’s district math test. Please continue to read at home so that we can reach
our goal for the Reading Challenge. I have the results from the fall writing
test. Please let me know if you wish to know your child’s score. On February 7
is the masquerade ball a fund raiser for our school. An
auction of baskets will be held at the ball, the theme for our basket is
gardening. Please bring any donations related to gardening to the classroom,
