Breve nota de la semana

We will continue to study fairy tales and reveiwing comprehension. The spelling list are words with ce,ci, z or s. We have a spelling test on Tuesday and Friday. On Wednesday we return to the library for the last time. Please return all library books by Wednesday.  We will finish our unit on coins and have a test on Thursday. Rehearsals of our dance will be in the mornings, I obtained skirts for the girls and bandanas for the boys. I would like the students to be in my classroom by 5:40 P.M. on Thursday so we can prepare for the dance. Here is the link to the quizlet spelling list http://quizlet.com/_q1vby .  

Seguimos estudiando cuentos de hadas y practicando compresión.  La lista de ortógrafa son palabras con ce, ci s y z. Tenemos prueba de ortografía el martes y el viernes.  Terminamos con nuestra unidad de monedas y los niños presentan un examen el jueves.  El miércoles regresamos a la biblioteca por la última vez, por favor de entregar todos los libros de la biblioteca.. En las mañanas vamos a ensayar el baile para la fiesta del fin de año. Me gustaría que todos los niños estén en mi salón a las 5:40 P.M.el jueves para preparase para el baile a las 6:00 P.M. Nos falta tres semanas para el fin de año escolar. La semana anterior terminamos con la última unidad de nuestro libro de lenguaje y lectura. En las semanas que nos quedan vamos a repasar material del principio del año, además leer y escribir cuentos de hadas. Vamos a leer La bella durmiente y después escribir una nueva conclusión.   La lista de ortógrafa son palabras con s y z.  Muchos niños siempre se confunden entre la s y z, necesitamos más práctica. La prueba de ortografía será el próximo martes, como tengo un suplente el jueves y viernes y como es día feriada el lunes.  Para matemáticas seguimos estudiando monedas. Sería buena idea que muestren y dejen que sus niños cuenten las monedas que hay en casa.  El miércoles regresamos a la biblioteca no hay que devolver los libros de la biblioteca hasta el miércoles. En las tardes vamos a ensayar el baile para la fiesta del fin de año. El baile que vamos a presentar es el Torito una Jarana Yucateca.  Para el baile los niños van a necesitar una camisa de manga larga, sombreo blanco, pantalones blancos o beige y un pañuelo rojo. La niñas una blusa con falda blanca y una bufanda o rebozo. También estaremos viendo una película cubana en las tardes. Las películas que vemos son para que los niños escuchen diferentes acentos de español. Tengo muy poca acceso a películas de países hispanohablantes ya que las películas que se muestra en la clase no pueden ser clasificadas PG.  Antes de presentar las películas las repaso para ver si son adecuadas e intentado seleccionar películas que los estudiantes encontrarán atractivos. La próxima semana veremos una película de México. Espero para la última semana de escuela mostrar una película de América del Sur. We only have three weeks left till the end of the school year. Last week we finished the last unit from our language arts text book.  In the weeks we have left we will review and study fairy tales. This week we are going to read sleeping beauty and write an alternative ending. The spelling list is comprised of words with s or z. Students are still having difficulty distinguishing between s and z. since I have a substitute on Thursday and Friday and Monday is a holiday we will have the spelling test on Tuesday.  For math we continue to study about counting coins, it would be a good idea to let your child count any spare change around the house On Wednesday we return to the library, the students can hang on to their library books until Wednesday. In the afternoons we continue to practice our dance for the end on the year celebration. The dance we are going to present is el Torito a dance from Yucatán México. For the dance the boys are going to need a white shirt, hat and white or beige pants, along with a red bandanna. The girls will need a White blouse, skirt and a red scarf. Also we will be watching a Cuban film in the afternoons. The movies that we watch are intended to have the children here different Spanish accents. I have limited access to Native Spanish films since the films shown in class cannot be rated PG.  I screen all the movies that are shown for appropriateness and try to select movies the students will find engaging. Esta semana la nueva unidad de lectura es, “Un día especial”.  También durante lectura vamos a  aprender sobre los personajes y el ambiente de un cuento.  Para matemáticas seguimos estudiando sumas y restas con unidades y decenas. El jueves tenemos un examen sobre sumar y restar con unidades y decenas. El viernes comenzamos nuestra última tema de matemáticas, contar dinero. El lunes comenzamos a ensayar el baile para la fiesta del fin de año. El baile que vamos a presentar es el Torito una Jarana Yucateca.  Para el baile los niños van a necesitar una camisa de manga larga, sombreo blanco, pantalones blancos o beige y un pañuelo rojo. La niñas una blusa con falda blanca y una bufanda o rebozo. El miércoles tengo un suplente, voy trabajar con la Maestra Miller para escribir el plan de emergencia de la escuela. También el miércoles es el día que nos toca ir a la biblioteca.  El jueves durante ciencia los niños van a trabajar con “gak”,  recomendó que no tengan ropa fina porque gak pueda manchar la ropa.  Este viernes despedimos los niños a las 11:50 A.M. This week the theme for language arts is, “A special day”, also during reading we learn about character and setting.  For math we continue to study addition and subtraction of ones and tens, on Thursday we have a test.  On Friday we start learning about counting money. On Monday we start to practice our dance for the end on the year celebration. The dance we are going to present is el Torito a dance from Yucatán México. For the dance the boys are going to need a white shirt, hat and white or beige pants, along with a red bandanna. The girls will need a White blouse, skirt and a red scarf. On Wednesday I have a substitute, so that I can work with Mrs. Miller on the school emergency plan. Wednesday is also our school library day. On Thursday for science the children will be working with “gak” I recommend that they wear play clothes since “gak” may stain clothing. Baile 29 de mayo/ Dance may 29

El baile que vamos a presentar es el Torito una Jarana Yucateca. El Torito se baila tradicionalmente al fin de la fiesta del pueblo la vaquería. Para el baile los niños van a necesitar una camisa de manga larga, sombreo blanco, pantalones blancos o beige y un pañuelo rojo. La niñas una blusa con falda blanca y una bufanda o rebozo.  Aquí hay unos ejemplos del baile.

The dance we are going to present is el Torito a dance from Yucatán México. El Torito is a dance that is traditionally danced at the end of a village festival called the Vaquería. For the dance the boys are going to need a white shirt, hat and white or beige pants, along with a red bandanna. The girls will need a White blouse, skirt and a red scarf. Cinco de mayo

Esta semana la nueva unidad de lectura es, a descubrir, también durante lectura vamos a repasar cómo hacer predicciones.  Para matemáticas seguimos estudiando sumas y restas con unidades y decenas. Estamos comenzando a estudiar reagrupar cuando sumamos. El 7de mayo a las 1:30 durante la asamblea vamos a juntarnos con el salón del Maestro Smith para cantar Guajira Guantanamera.  Tengo los resultados del examen de escritura del trimestre anterior si quieren saber los resultados de su niño ponerse en contacto con migo. Esta semana los niños van a presentar el examen de escritura de este trimestre, un día memorable. El viernes en la tarde con los niños de kínder vamos a tener un evento especial para las mamás, más detalles e invitaciones acercándose el evento. This week the theme for language arts is, discovering! We will also be reviewing making predictions.  Our spelling words focus on closed syllables with /z/ and /c/.  For math we continue to study addition and subtraction of ones and tens. We are starting to study regrouping when adding. On May 7th at 1:30 for the assembly we will jointly sing with Mr Smith’s class Guajira Guantanamera.  I have the results of last trimester’s writing test if you would like to know your child’s score please contact me. This week we will take the writing test for this trimester. Friday afternoon along with the kindergarten students we will have a special event for the moms.
